Veteran actor Matt McGrath has been added to the cast of the highly anticipated Broadway premiere of Conor McPherson and Bob Dylan's new musical Girl From the North Country. McGrath will take on the role of Reverend Marlowe, replacing the previously announced David Pittu, who has exited the production due to a scheduling conflict.
McGrath has previously appeared on Broadway in Cabaret, A Streetcar Named Desire, Peter Pan and Working. His off-Broadway credits include Steve, Graceland, What Didn't Happen, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, A Fair Country, Nothing Sacred and a Lortel-winning turn in The Legend of Georgia McBride. He has been seen on-screen in Pose and Modern Family.
McGrath joins a previously announced slate of stars that includes Todd Almond, Jeannette Bayardelle, Matthew Frederick Harris, Caitlin Houlahan, Robert Joy, Marc Kudisch, Luba Mason, Ben Mayne, Tom Nelis, Colton Ryan, John Schiappa, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, Rachel Stern, Chelsea Lee Williams, Mare Winningham, Jay O. Sanders, Austin Scott, Jennifer Blood, Law Terrell Dunford, Chiara Trentalange and Bob Walton.
Written and directed by McPherson and featuring the music of Dylan, Girl From the North Country is the story of a down-on-its-luck community on the brink of change in Duluth, Minnesota in 1934. The musical is scheduled to begin previews on February 7 and officially open on March 5 at the Belasco Theatre.
